3G or Wi-Fi, my PS Vita test on 3G model with snapshots

Finally I have bought a Playstation Vita !, I am very envy people who live in  countries that PS Vita officially available, I have to paid for around 600 USD for PS Vita 3G, 8 GB memory card, accessory kit and Uncharted for PS Vita (by far this is the only Vita game that available in english that that I can find in my country). The only reason that I’ve chosen Vita 3G because Wi-Fi model is out of stock very quickly, as well as uncharted bundle, and I want it PS Vita so bad ! I have expectations about Vita 3G that I may use it for

1. Remote Play over 3G connection – imagine how cool and convenience if you can access to your PS3 via Vita no matter where you are and play PS one game on Vita that streamed from PS3 !

2. Perhaps I can use PS Vita as my portable Hotspot ! I may connect my Mac to my PS Vita anywhere and say goodbye to a Hotspot seeking forever !

Because of these two reasons, I decided to run some tests and this is the results :

PS Vita works fine with common 3G telephone sim cards, you don’t need to buy small sim cards like IPad 3G.

After a sim card inserted, Vita will restart to get a 3G signal.

Then you are good to go. You can use PS Vita as your 3G 5 inch OLED display tablet for web browsing, but can Vita fulfill my requirement ?

1. Can I use PS Vita Remote Play to connect to my PS3 while I am on the go ?

- No !, Remote Play can be used for Wi-Fi connection only !

2. Can I use PS Vita as a portable Hotspot ?

- You can connect Vita via Bluetooth but I think bluetooth feature on Vita is tend to be used for bluetooth headset or wireless speaker not for a tethering.

So, What is 3G feature on PS Vita for ? I think the reason that Sony decides to add 3G feature into Vita is not to maximize your gaming experience by add the bridge between your PS3 home console and your PS Vita game on the go, Vita 3G model is for persons who are looking for a 5 inch-display OLED tablet that can access to internet everywhere and any time, or on the other hand, I think Sony tries to compete Android, Windows and iOS portable tablet market with Sony PS Vita. (by far, I think PS Vita browser needs developments and it is not yet supported Youtube and flash, if you are thinking about getting one of portable tablet that can be used for a casual gaming, IPod Touch 4G may be a better idea)

So, if you are already have a mobile phones that can access to an internet or  3G tablets, I don’t think you’ll need to buy a PS Vita 3G Wi-Fi because it doesn’t add any value to your gaming experience at all !

Should you pre-order PlayStation Vita First Edition bundle ?
